The microtonal Gods King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard returned this year with a new single and that is easily as sweet as its namesake. If we had to wait almost a whole year for new music from the Australian band then they must have been cooking up something particularly special, especially since the Melbourne seven-piece is known for producing high-quality music as if it is being spat off of a high-speed assembly line.
Nearly five minutes in length, the band have taken a more gentle and minimal approach with “Honey”. Its accompanying video, directed by John Angus Stewart, was apparently “shot at sunset during the apocalypse with a reeeeeeal long lens” and paints a luscious backdrop to what is no doubt an instantly memorable song.
