It feels slightly counterintuitive to run an “introducing” piece for an artist who boasts tens of millions of plays but in the case of Glassio some appreciation was long overdue.
First coming to our attention with the wistful ’80s influenced single “Are You Having Fun Without Me” which manages to be earnest, self-deprecating and witty at the same time, it soon became clear that this was far from a one-trick pony. Indeed, Indeed, if you dip anywhere into the Brooklyn artist’s discography you will find a plethora of dream-pop instrumentals, euphoric dancefloor vibes and the occasional indie rock indulgence clashing in unexpected ways. On paper, it shouldn’t work so well but time after time it seems almost effortless.
A direct line can be drawn to his most recent release “If Love Is What It Takes” which, while showcasing the Irish-Iranian producer more delicate side, still possesses more hooks than a pirate supplies emporium.
Glassio is a man who has made it his mission to create little emotion-filled gems that stick in your ears days and even weeks after you have taken your headphones out.
