Katmaz gives the impression of being the kind of guy who can play almost any instrument and produce his own music, yet remains humble. Starting his journey as a classically trained pianist he clearly shows mastery of the guitar as well with many of his compositions using the instrument as their main voice. With a suitable resume of tours with various outfits the troubadour now calls Brooklyn his home.
The focus of his video for the wonderfully upbeat “Alone (With Me)” is his neighbourhood of Williamsburg and more specifically McCarren Park. Surrounded by a cast of interesting (and sometimes fantastical) characters the folk-pop troubadour sketches his ideas and comes across as both playful yet genuine.
I dare you to not crack a smile when you watch this.
