Blood Oranges‘ ascent to the stereo at Cougar HQ has coincided nicely with the fleeting appearance of the sun across the British isles. The Leeds combo are making all the right moves sharing stages with the likes of Surfer Blood and Two Door Cinema Club.
Their boy/girl vocals on this track inevitably bring to mind the sounds of Belle and Sebastian meeting Los Campesinos in an all out melodic assault. In their own words ‘The French Word For Love‘ is about making the most of a long distance relationship and was “inspired by a remark made by a friend about the name of a restaurant in Newcastle“.
The single was produced by former ¡Forward, Russia! man Whiskas and released on strictly Limited Edition, numbered 7” vinyl through London label Things To Make and Do.
