Scotland‘s indie-miserablist rockers The Twilight Sad returns with a brand new album that sees a slight change in the band’s sound. Listed as ‘anti-produced‘ by Andrew Weatherall (the man who helped shape Primal Scream‘s ‘Screamadelica‘ club sound), this new direction features a colder sound that’s like a modern Joy Division.
I guess it must have been that synth sound but before you dismiss The Twilight Sad as another JD-wannabe, fret not coz the band’s identity is still very much intact. It’s just that the delivery this time round is slightly different compared to the past. It’s definitely more militant & claustrophobic now, displaying the band’s love for darker stuff.
If there’s a short line of description I’d go into, I would say ‘No One Can Ever Know‘ is The Twilight Sad‘s ‘Holy Bible‘ or ‘The Downward Spiral‘.
