A few months ago I wrote about Douglas McGillivray, aka ANOTHER, particularly enjoying his music whilst waiting for the summer to arrive.
Well, it’s almost August and I am still waiting for the sun. In the midst of all this gloominess that is currently characterising London, I think of ANOTHER‘s songs as a ray of sunshine that (almost) manages to make me forget that we’re reliving a modern version of that Noah’s ark tale.
So I’d like to present both a new track called ‘Summer Bummer‘ and the video for the song ‘Looking Away‘.
As it’s name indicates, ‘Summer Bummer‘ is a perfect song for the summertime. It’s got a lovely doo-wop feel to it, with the back beat reminding me of the classic Ben E. King track “Stand By Me” . It’s in a similar vein to the rest of his work, with that intimate, ocean-pop feel to it. Worth listening to!
“Looking Away” is the first video from his album ‘Since June‘ directed by Katarani Balkradze. It proves to be very representative of McGillivray‘s music; full of light, sunshine, colours…. happiness !
