This has been a long time coming and we’re delighted to announce Cougar Microbes DJs will be making it’s Washington D.C debut on the 10th of October at Nyk Schmalz‘s exciting solo exhibition PRISM at Malmaison in Georgetown.
PRISM is an observation on the role of government and the tension between security and liberty. This show considers the prices paid for intellectual and creative thought, security, personal freedoms, and the side effects of these subjections in both America and the Arab world.
Drawing inspiration from the recently exposed American government program ‘PRISM’, the artwork also provides a glimpse into privacy by exposing personal messages, illicit drug images and government documents, which explore a colorful world riding on the fine red lines of legal and illegal.
Additionally Schmalz will be presenting the world premiere of his most recent film “You and I” (20 min. scored by Vincent Corver) which addresses the interaction of society on a personal level and marks the intimate connection of us all to one another. Also unveiled is a filmed interview with Iraqi artist Halim Al Karim, a series of screenprints, digital prints and mixed-media sculpture.
If that’s not enough to make you wet your pants expect some hot sets from US Royalty‘s John Thornley as well as Sweetlife found Nate Ru who are guaranteed to keep us dancing well into the night.
If you aren’t too busy striking for no reason come on down and share a jetlag beating drink with us!
