Last month we featured the American vocalist Adina E. whose track,”Always”, not only possessed a breezy touch but managed to remain musically engaging as well. We didn’t have to wait long to receive a follow up track and the timing of it’s arrival- matched with the changing seasons -was just right.
We had mentioned last time that the singer belongs in what is sometimes defined as the Boomers generation but I feel making any reference to age would be both lazy from a journalistic standpoint and wouldn’t do justice to Adina‘s musical output.
In a sense “I Went To The Ocean” is a perfect companion for the previous single (the video is once again directed by Jonathan Vardi who has committed to one more video in a pre-announced trilogy of singles) but scratch beneath the surface and you realise that Adina E. explores a wide range of musical textures and vocal melodies in order to build a consistent, but never homogeneous, set of songs that are timeless and, possibly as a result, never grow old on the listener.
The album Adina E. is due out next month.
