Ben Somerville is undertaking a song a week project for 2016 which he is titling ‘Ears Under Water‘. The Maryland native shows a unique approach to his songwriting producing a diverse range of, mostly acoustic, songs that showcase a fine talent refining his craft with every new release.
The singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer initially caught our attention with the sweeping track “Concavescent” (pronounced kon ka veh sint) from his debut ‘The Greenstone‘ EP. Nailing Cold War Kids penchant for twisted melodies and borrowing Radiohead‘s (pre ‘Kid-A‘) dramatic turns, The piano and vocal led track demands to be played over and over.
Now calling Virginia his home Somerville continues to plug away and we wouldn’t’ begrudge him if 2016 turned out to be his year.
