Never underestimate the effect of a simple set of words that simply express what you’re trying to say in a song. When so many try to shroud their messages in mystery and complicated arrangement, JF Robitaille‘s delivery is exquisitely subtle and above all, simple.
“When it feels like no one out cares, I do“, JF Robitaille whispers these words like he is your friend, and you feel it on this timeless lament ‘Missing You‘.
The line “I know you’re not tough, just playing the part ’cause you have to” Could be a compassionate and very human line from a Leonard Cohen song, of whom Robitaille has been compared to, amongst our other songwriting legends Bob Dylan and Lou Reed. Such comparisons deserve lofty results. ‘Missing You‘ is only one track from Robintaille‘s latest ‘Palace Blues‘, which if the lead single is anything to go by, is shaping up to be one hell of a listen.
Montreal-bred songwriter JF Robitaille is no stranger to lofty expectations. Yes, he’s long been celebrated as one of the most engaging songwriters North of the 49 and with 2013’s ‘Rival Hearts‘, the world began to take notice. After the album charted in Germany, he found himself playing at Hamburg’s fabled Reeperbahn Festival along with several other gigs throughout that country. Robitaille’s international rep began to resemble his accolades in Canada.
“Missing You” is from JF Robitaille‘s new album ‘Palace Blues‘ and will be released in the spring of 2016 via Sparks/Universal Music Canada and thru Ingrooves internationally.
