The Beautiful Fear is the brainchild of Matthew Bannister who, perhaps unsurprisingly, left the sunny shores of England some years ago to set up shop in Brooklyn and Miami.
Having recruited Carl Negin the duo set out to produce a biographical document spanning upbeat, introspective and down right creepy sounds. The debut album ‘ONE‘ is a veritable musical voyage within Bannister‘s mind covering some pretty heavy topics such as abuse, depression and mortality.
While the project is often likened to Pink Floyd I feel this comparison may be a little restrictive. While the influence of the acclaimed prog legends is clearly felt here Bannister is also able to inject elements of 90s alt-rock and American indie into the mix.
‘ONE‘ is out now and due to be followed by the follow up album ‘TWO‘
