Flute synths, 70’s synths, 90’s synths, finger clicks, disco and ambient guitar licks and supremely danceable beats are a fraction of what Bear Hands sonically offer in this slice of their breathtakingly creative latest album ‘You’ll Pay For This’. This slice happens to be ‘Marathon Man‘. Using what I would call the best of every genre since the 60’s, this track is quite simply so fun to listen to.
This is a band clearly loving their endless creativity, ‘Marathon Man‘ is a pop song of the highest calibre. Passing through similar creative spheres as what Phoenix tuned into on Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, the playful realms of OkGo and where Julian Cassablancas delved into in his debut solo album, Bear Hands have taken the summer haze of the 60’s, the raunchiness of the seventies, the reverb of the eighties and the garage feel of the nineties and brought us something utter addictive.
The finest part about ‘Marathon Man‘ and indeed the rest of ‘You’ll Pay For This‘ is this bands playfulness. Dylan Rau, TJ Orscher, Val Loper and Ted Feldman combine perfectly song serving sounds whilst never ceasing to appear to be having tons of fun with every note played.
‘You’ll Pay For This‘ is out now on Spensive Sounds.
