Multi instrumentalist Mairearad Green hails from the Scottish Highlands and her second release”Summer Isles” is a veritable ode to the Islands of her homeland. The concept album began to take shape a couple of years ago when Green researched publications, poems and stories related to the islands.
The result is a concise collections of mostly acoustic folk takes that work both as individual narratives as well as in a comprehensive listening experience. Regardless of whether the singer is playing the piano, accordion, bag pipes or simply singing her ideas are exquisitely delivered.
Green recently completed a British tour that took her through Scotland, Manchester, Newcastle, London and back up to Glasgow. Like on the album she has surrounded herself with respected musicians who served to elevate her performances and won her plaudits throughout.
Catch her at The Summer Isles Festival in August where on top of performing Green will also be the festival director.
