I’ll be the first to admit we slightly slept on Lyel here at Cougar Microbes HQ. Originally assigned to a writer who became a father and thus understandably unavailable the track sat in our “to review” pile for a bit. Still I found myself constantly returning to the track and slowly falling in love with it.
There is no doubt that “Shadow” is a lot more in the pop realm than what we normally feature on theses pages but I defy anyone to get through 3:21 mins and not crack a smile. Throughout the Finish singer delivers intricate lyrics over a crisp production that forgoes common pop cliches and aims straight for the heart.
