There’s always room for sex in a groove. Never play it straight when you can make listeners sweaty and aroused to hypnotic rhythms. The aforementioned, and quite brilliant hypnotic rhythms I am referring to NONA‘s latest single ‘Otherways‘.
Falling somewhere between Modest Mouse and the guitar grooves of The Strokes, ‘Otherways‘, swirling guitars upon the palm mutes and danceable bass drip over Michael Goldman‘s Lou Reed-esque crooning, made all the sexier with it’s lyrics of casual sexual encounters and lust.
What’s great about this song is if you immediately rewind to the beginning from the end (which I did many times), it’s like an endless cycle, an endless addictive and fluid propulsion that would sound so good booming out in a dirty basement club just as the night is getting going.
Michael Goldman also performs for renowned acts such as Meg Myers, Goldroom and The Moth & Flame, but we think here at Cougar HQ that his talent clearly lies in the music he makes in NONA… Amidst the sex.
