Ava Love don’t give too much away about themselves and that’s fine by us. All we have from the mysterious outfit so far is the unmissable single “Subterranean” which takes pointers from Duran Duran‘s stadium rock bombast and the melodic knowhow of Simple Minds to create something utterly irrestible. The track is accompanied by a suitably swashbuckling video consisting of an animated ‘pop art’ sequence over footage from an ’80s kung-fu movie called ‘Righting Wrongs‘, starring Cynthia Rothrock.
Already achieving some degree of cult following in their native Scotland the band have played sold out shows in both Glasgow and Edinburgh before being invited to perform a BBC ‘Quay Sessions‘ show, playing alongside ’70s ska legends The Beat.
“Subterranean” is out now.
