La Bête Blooms‘ “Breaking In” sounds like a goat being tortured, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. The electric guitar takes centre stage as a wailing victim, and at just over 2 minutes it’s short, but lingers long enough to get it’s punchy message across. The animal is beaten, stabbed, and set on fire before finally being taken out of it’s suffering. After a repeated stomping you almost expect them to go at it again, but there is no way the beast survived the initial onslaught.
There’s no reason to believe any animals were harmed in the recording of this single. This British post-punk, 5-piece have piqued my curiosity and wet my appetite for more of their Pixies/Nirvana-esque melodic onslaught. Which animal shall we torture next?
