Following their successful debut EP “For the Light”, I’d like to introduce American alt-rock band Foreign Air’s new and electrifying single “Lying”.
Mixed by none other than indie producer Phil Ek (who has worked with bands such as Band of Horses, Modest Mouse and Fleet Foxes) this catchy track will make you dance like it’s nobody’s business or scream at the top of your lungs. Or both if you like.
The genius in this song partly comes from its lyrics “I just wanna be mean to someone else”, “why you wasting your time with me “, I just love how touches of evil, deceit and anger gracefully emanate from frontman Jesse’s voice.
With “Lying”, Foreign Air succeed in blending groovy disco beats and rock-solid rhythm, taking me back to the indie dance scene of the Noughties. But this song isn’t all fun and games, it also conveys a deeper message. Truth is, the dreamy synths, screeching guitars and sharp lyrics all skilfully come together to tackle a very current issue: how the internet and technology reflect a dark and childish side of human nature by giving birth to a very strange and sometimes terrifying phenomenon, internet trolls.
