Even though “Goin Down” offers a unique sense of tranquillity I imagine Kyle Meadows delivering it with a glint in his eye and a touch of playfulness. Angelic vocals and lo-fi guitar indie collide brilliantly in what was originally an acoustic ballad but has transformed into something more. To me, the Pensylvania-based artist sounds somewhat like a collage of Kurt Vile, The War On Drugs and Bright Eyes, all artists that I hold these artists in the highest regard.
The track is paired with a vintage feeling video that feels a little like an alternative reality where Frank from Donnie Darko just wants to chill, play some tunes and generally enjoy a sunny afternoon.
The beauty of “Goin Down” is that it manages to mix a vintage-y aesthetic, both in the sound and the visuals, with a very now feel to excellent results. Kyle Meadows is definitely one to keep an eye on!
