Today we would like to point our spotlight towards Edinburgh rockers Bronston. The four-piece consisting of Adam Campbell (lead vocals, guitar), James Callaghan (bass guitar, backing vocals), Ryan Firth (keyboard, guitar, backing vocals), and Mark Hennys (drums, percussion) have been releasing music since 2017 and have been gradually carving their sound out since. The band first came to our attention with the storming single “Burnt Snakes“, a tight and angular beauty that would sit comfortably on a release by post-hardcore heroes Rival Schools and Burning Airways.
Much like the London band Kick Up The Fire (who we featured a few weeks ago) populism and (presumably) the state of British politics plays a large theme in the lyrics of the track with multiple perspectives to the malaise of populism presented through various characters, no doubt a crafty narrative. But don’t’ let that turn you off from listening to this one just casually; the track offers big riffs, tempo changes, and impassioned vocals to hold to merit repeat listens without having to delve into subplots. Of course, if you chose to listen a bit closer you will be rewarded.
With a string of dates planned for this summer and beyond it sounds like Bronston should be a real delight to see live and I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on their future moves.
“Burnt Snakes” is out now!
