Florida outfit Dear Tatiana offers a dreamy and introspective outlook on the track “Wannabe” where live music flows seamlessly with the effortlessly delivered vocals from frontman Thayne Brown.
In true narrator fashion, the track tells the story of people moving away but not moving apart with the narrator in some sort constant in relation to his friends. It works as a kind of polaroid picture of a very specific period that was worth immortalising. With some self-deprecating humour and some genuinely insightful outlook offered the lyrics grab your attention and make you want to hear more.
The rest of the band allow the verses to shine with a reflective piano-led melody that provides the perfect backdrop. Overall, a great piece of contemplative hip hop with a positive message behind it.
