I’ve had Loud Forest rattling in my brain for a few weeks now. The California based couple first came to our attention with the song “Set You Free“ for which we said “Songs like this don’t come around very often, but when they do, they need to be cherished“.
It has been a while since that review and I am delighted to see duo are still fighting the good fight releasing quirky and instantly hummable indie-pop treasures. “Out Of My Head” for instance is a playful number that sees Bernard and Rachel Chadwick sing in unison and is a song that, despite its title, is almost impossible to forget.
Their latest offering “Heartbreak Away” is certainly much more quote-unquote pop than anything we have heard before but maintains an authentic streak that is sometimes missing from other songs in its ilk. It will be interesting to see if this is a one-off or a direction they plan to stick with. Regardless, I will be happy to have more Loud Forest materials in our lives.
