Fever Ray‘s music video “Kandy,” directed by Martin Falck, is a perfect (or rather imperfect) complement to the song. Co-produced and co-written by Fever Ray‘s Karin Dreijer with their brother and bandmate Olof Dreijer, the track will bring a smile to long-time fans of The Knife, using the same steel-drum synths found on their early-aughts work and a familiar.
This strange yet impeccable collaboration taps into uncomfortable emotions that are simultaneously tender and unpleasant. Along with the enduringly creepy visuals, the result is a timeless, glittering toxic love story.
“Kandy” follows “Carbon Dioxide” and the excellent “What They Call Us“ in anticipating the March release of the full-length ‘Radical Romantics’.
