Frank Turner, one of the first artists we featured on this blog way back in 2009, has reached the incredible milestone of a tenth studio album. His latest anthem, “Do One,” encapsulates the defiance I have always associated him with. Featured as the lead track on his upcoming album ‘Undefeated‘, set to release on May 3 via Xtra Mile Recordings, this song marks Turner‘s independent stride, free from major labels.
In “Do One,” Turner blends his trademark folk-punk with a dose of vitality, delivering a powerful message of self-assurance. The chorus, with its catchy refrain of “I’m still standing up,” boldly sticks its middle finger up at his detractors. Turner‘s introspective lyrics explore adulthood’s complexities, urging authenticity in the face of criticism.
As both producer and writer, Turner had his hands full for this one, but to his credit, the production sets the heartfelt lyrics up to shine. Accompanying the release is a suitably upbeat music video by Lukas Rauch, capturing the singer-songwriter and his band killing it on stage in front of a delighted crowd. Judging by their reaction to the track, this is a great single to kick off “Undefeated”.
At the tender age of 42, Turner unleashed a song as good as anything he has worked on in the past. As Frank Turner continues to defy expectations, let “Do One” be the soundtrack to overcoming challenges.
